KRIA Law, a full-service intellectual property and commercial law firm, hosted a half-day event themed ‘IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate’ at Victoria Public Hall, Chennai, marking the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s (WIPO) World IP Day 2026. The event brought together over 250 participants, including corporates, legal professionals, sportspersons, and entrepreneurs, to discuss the growing role of intellectual property in the sports ecosystem, with a focus on athlete rights, endorsements, and monetisation models.
Notable speakers included G. Rajaraman, Somdev Devvarman, Sudha Shah, Dr. Subhrajit Chanda, Siddharth Raman, Vasanth Bharadwaj, and Vishal Jaison.
“The intersection of intellectual property and sports is opening up new avenues for athletes to protect and monetize their personal brands. Structured models such as royalty-based frameworks can ensure sustained value for stakeholders,” said Somdev Devvarman, Former Indian Tennis Player.

The event also featured the announcement of winners of the KRIA’tive Innovation Awards 2026, which received over 460 applications, along with the felicitation of winners of the IPASI Pickleball Tournament.
