The audio launch event of the film Breakfast, directed by Ar. Gandhi Krishna (who earlier directed Chellame and Anandha Thandavam) and produced by Girija Varadaraj, was held recently in Chennai.
Here are some excerpts from the eve
Editor S. Bhaaskar said, “The film has been titled ‘Breakfast’, where the ‘Fast’ is predominant, but in contrast, we worked on the edit very slowly. The reason is that we made several versions of the edit. The film has come out only when the director felt completely satisfied.”
Actress Amitha Ranganth said, “Loving someone is easy for everyone. But standing firm in that love is difficult. That is because all of us have an emptiness within us. When we try to fill that emptiness by expecting a mother’s love from our partner, problems begin. Married couples should definitely watch this film. It shows how even a small ego can turn into a big issue.”
Actor Krithik Mohan said, “It is a great honour for me to act in a film with music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar. I sincerely thank director Ar. Gandhi Krishna, the producer, and my co-actors who worked with me. I request everyone to watch this film in theatres on April 24.”
Distributor Guhan said, “My heartfelt wishes and greetings to everyone who has worked in this film, especially lyricist Vairamuthu, music director G. V. Prakash Kumar, the producers, director, and actors. The title of this film reflects acceptance of reality. The director has portrayed this very beautifully and neatly. I strongly condemn the release of the film ‘Jananayagan’ on social media. Such things cannot be compensated. Despite all this, I wish that film too releases successfully in theatres.”
Director Vasanthabalan said, “The boy whom I saw 20 years ago has now grown into a great music composer and personality, and that makes me very proud. Meeting G. V. Prakash was a surprising and memorable moment in my life. His current understanding amazes me. It is admirable that such a leading music composer is working in a film with a newcomer actor. Director Gandhi Krishna is a very strong personality, and I wish this film great success.”
Actress Rosmin said, “I thank director Ar. Gandhi Krishna for having great faith in me. This film has become a big turning point in my life. Acting in a film with music by G. V. Prakash Kumar is both a pride and a blessing for me. Our producers guided us like a family. Standing before lyricist Vairamuthu itself is a blessing for me. My thanks to everyone who worked with me.”
Music Director G. V. Prakash Kumar said, “I thank director Vasanthabalan who first gave me an opportunity. The opportunities given by him and director Shankar taught me many lessons. Because of that, I continue to work in films featuring newcomers. I have always wanted to work with directors who gave me opportunities in my early days. In that way, I wanted to collaborate with director Gandhi Krishna, and that is why I agreed to work on this film. My wishes to all the actors in this film.”
Actor Raanav said, “In my very first film, getting an opportunity to work with great personalities like director Gandhi Krishna, lyricist Vairamuthu, music director G. V. Prakash Kumar, and distributor Guhan is a great blessing. For someone like me without any background, this opportunity itself is a big fortune. I thank director Gandhi Krishna for this. I also thank the media friends, because it is through you that this film reaches the people. I request you to continue supporting the film even after its release in theatres.”
Director Gandhi Krishna said, “All the actors in this film have performed very well. I thank the music director, cinematographer, producers, and everyone involved. Please watch the film and share your feedback.”
Lyricist Vairamuthu said, “Earlier, I used to see actors only during success meets. But now, seeing them at events like audio launches gives me happiness. This is a celebration, a platform where we introduce ourselves and enquire about each other’s well-being. I thank my friend Gandhi Krishna for bringing us together on this stage.
I have known Gandhi Krishna for 30 years, and I have been in the film industry for 46 years. If a person continues as a director for 30 years, that itself is his strength and capability. Cinema is constantly changing, it is like flowing foam, like a rainbow that keeps shifting. To sustain for more than a quarter of a century in such a field means that person has intelligence, cultural depth, and a deep understanding of the art. Gandhi Krishna possesses all these qualities.
Even after 30 years, he has come forward with a film like ‘Breakfast’, and I appreciate his longevity. Time will not be kind to those who do not evolve with it. But my friend Gandhi Krishna continues to renew himself. The theme he has handled in this film is timeless—it deals with the relationship between men and women.
Every man is a world, and every woman is a world. One cannot fully understand another. As long as men and women exist, and as long as art and literature exist, this search for understanding will continue. That is what this film speaks about.
Acting is not just performance, it is about being. I congratulate all the actors who have performed in this film. However, I personally feel the title could have been in Tamil. Language is an identity, and I request that Tamil films carry Tamil titles.
The core idea of the film revolves around marriage, whether it is right or wrong. Marriage is like a besieged fort: those inside want to come out, and those outside want to go in. This film reflects that beautifully. Gandhi Krishna has handled it well, and I believe he has much more to offer. He should continue making films and achieve more success. I wish all the actors in this film great recognition.”
Actor Rio Raj said, “I thank the media and press for taking films to the audience. My wishes to the team of ‘Breakfast’, especially to Raanav. Everyone in cinema has a dream, but the path to achieve it is not always clear. There will be struggles and pain in that journey. I wish the entire team success.”
Actor Bharath said, “Both the directors on this stage, Vasanthabalan and Gandhi Krishna—are very important people in my life. I thank them. The film ‘Chellame’ gave me a big identity, and I thank Gandhi Krishna for that opportunity. I also thank Vasanthabalan for supporting me. My wishes to all the actors and the producers who made this film with confidence.”
Actor Mime Gopi said, “Raanav is a very simple and approachable person. He works very hard, and he will definitely find his place in cinema. Just like breakfast is essential for us, this film is also something that should not be missed.”
Producer Girija Varadaraj said, “The director has portrayed contemporary happenings in this film. That is why we decided to produce it. This film is our effort to support and encourage the younger generation. I thank the media and request everyone to watch the film in theatres on April 24.”
