On the occasion of Ranbir Kapoor’s birthday, the makers of Ramayana have unveiled a special behind-the-scenes glimpse featuring the actor as Lord Rama, offering audiences a closer look at his preparation and transformation for one of the most revered roles in Indian mythology.
The BTS video features director Nitesh Tiwari speaking about the importance of casting the right actor for a film like Ramayana, given the immense faith and emotional connect that millions of people have with the epic. Ranbir Kapoor, who essays Lord Rama, also opens up about taking on the role, sharing how he did not approach it as just another film or character, but as a responsibility to do justice to the revered figure.
The glimpse also features Ranbir’s co-stars Arun Govil, who plays Dashrath, Sai Pallavi, who portrays Sita, and Ravi Dubey, who essays Lakshman, speaking about the qualities that made Ranbir suited to the role of Lord Rama. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with 8-time Oscar-winning DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is envisioned as a two part epic. It is distributed by Sony Pictures globally (excluding India), with Dharma Productions acting as distributors for the Hindi speaking market. The film will release worldwide in IMAX, with Part 1 arriving in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027 releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam across India.
