From silambam to stunts, Sai Dhanshika delivers it all in Yogi Da, releasing on February 6, 2026

Produced by Senthilkumar under the banner of Sri Monica Cini Films, Yogi Da is written and directed by Goutham Krishna. Actor Sai Dhanshika plays the lead role in this action-packed film. As the movie is set to release in theatres on February 6, the team held its press meet in Chennai, where the cast and crew shared their thoughts.

Director & Writer Goutham Krishna
“Greetings to all the journalists here, and my thanks to everyone on stage today. This film has been made possible because of our technicians. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our lead actress, Sai Dhanshika.
Initially, I planned to make this movie with a male hero. But the kind of action four heroes together could deliver, Dhanshika has done all of that by herself. She has literally given her life to this film and performed the action sequences by putting her own safety on the line.
My thanks to our producer Senthil, and to every member of the team who worked on this project.”

Master Pandian
“Greetings to everyone, and my thanks to the team for having me here. For the past 41 years, I have been teaching gymnastics, silambam, and martial arts. I have trained many actors, including those in the film Peranmai, Dhanshika was one of them.
Usually, people forget these skills after the film, but Dhanshika has mastered silambam remarkably well. Silambam is the foundation for performing strong stunt sequences. MGR was the most renowned actor for action sequences in Indian cinema because he trained in silambam with discipline.
Today, many actresses are excelling in action roles, and it gives me great joy to see Dhanshika grow into such an action star. She has proved that a woman can perform stunt sequences with exceptional skill. My thanks to the entire team.”

Music Composer Asvamithra
“Greetings to all. I have composed two songs for this film. My sincere thanks to my team, and to everyone here.”

Stunt Master Ganesh
“Greetings. I have worked with actors like Vijayashanti, and now, Tamil cinema has found another powerful performer in Sai Dhanshika. She has given her complete dedication to this film.
Action scenes require immense physical effort, and she has withstood everything and performed superbly at par with male leads.
Director Gautham designed every stunt sequence with a unique concept. My thanks to the cinematographer and editor. The music director has also done an excellent job. The producer’s support has been crucial in making this film what it is.
We hope Yogi Da becomes a huge success. Please teach silambam to women—it empowers them. Thank you to everyone who supported this movie.”

Cinematographer Boopathi
“Greetings. The film is a showcase of Dhanshika’s hard work. I have worked on many action films, and her performance is on par with Vijayashanti. The movie contains several stunt sequences, and we hope to receive your support.”

Dr. Kavitha Mohan
“Greetings. In earlier times, women hesitated even to step outside their homes. Today everything has changed, and cinema has played a major role in that transformation. Many were inspired by women like Vijayashanti.
Making a film and taking it to the people is like a rebirth. Thank you.”

Bhaskar
“Greetings. The trailer was excellent, and Dhanshika has delivered a powerful performance. My best wishes for the film’s success.”

Actor Sai Dhanshika
“Greetings to everyone. My heartfelt thanks to my entire team—this would not have been possible without them.
Instead of speaking too much, I believe a film should speak through our work. I played Rajinikanth sir’s daughter in Kabali, where my character’s name was ‘Yogi’. That is how Yogi Da began.
While deciding the title, we noticed similarities with my Kabali look and action style, so we chose Yogi Da.
For Kabali, I actually cut my hair. For this film, I used a wig. After Kabali, many women cut their hair inspired by my role and that’s when I realized how deeply a film can impact people.
Today, many movies are releasing, and post-COVID, OTT platforms have increased, while theatrical releases have become fewer and more challenging. I sincerely thank Siva Ganesh sir for bringing our film to theatres under such difficult circumstances, and Senthil sir of Monica Pictures for his support.
The action in this film has come out exceptionally well. I also thank the music director for his wonderful work. I first performed action in Peranmai, and that experience continues to help me. All the stunt scenes in Yogi Da were performed by me without a body double.
If women decide, they can perform stunts just as well as men. Today, crimes against women are increasing. Society often believes that once a woman is physically hurt, she cannot rise again. Yogi Da shows that she can overcome it.
We have made this film for women, to the best of our ability. I have given everything I can to bring this movie to you. Please support films like this. Thank you.”
