The G20 Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting concludes in Indore

Chennai-22.07.2023-Under India's G20 Presidency, Labor and Employment Ministers'
Meeting (LEMM) was organized in Indore on July 21, 2023, Friday. The meeting was chaired
by Union Labor and Employment Minister, Bhupendra Yadav. The meeting witnessed
participation from 165 delegates including 24 ministers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also
graced the meeting through his virtual address.

In his video message, PM Modi said, “In this era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution,
technology has become the main driver of employment and will continue to be so.
Fortunately, this meeting is being held in a country like India, which has had the experience
of creating a large number of technology-related jobs during such technology-driven
transformations in the past.” The Prime Minister added, “I am sure you will convey a strong
message today for the welfare of all workers around the world. I wish you a fruitful and
successful meeting through all of you.

The 4 th meeting of the Employment Working Group was held in Indore, on July 19-20 ahead
of the Ministers' Meeting. The meeting witnessed deliberations on employment challenges
being faced globally, and the outcome document. During the inaugural session of the
Employment Working Group meeting, Aarti Ahuja, Secretary, of the Ministry of Labor and
Employment and Chairperson of the G20 EWG, welcomed the delegates and summarized the
discussions and achievements made during the last three EWG meetings. The meeting began
with the delegates carrying forward the discussions of the previous meetings. Further, a
presentation on e-Labour and the National Career Service (NCS) portal, the world's largest
database of unorganized workers was shared by India.
