Partnership to empower writers with stronger IP protection, digital tools and sustainable rights management
IP Climb, the intellectual property management and legal services vertical of Fipchain Technology Private Limited, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the South Indian Film Writers Association (SWAN), marking a significant step towards strengthening intellectual property awareness, legal protection and long-term rights management for members of the writers’ community.
As part of the collaboration, members of SWAN’s administrative and executive committees attended an introductory session and a detailed demonstration of the organisation’s services and technology.
G. K. Tirunavukarasu, Founder of Fipchain, introduced the company’s journey and spoke about the evolution of its platforms and initiatives, including Producer Bazaar and IP Climb. The session provided an overview of Fipchain’s work in building technology-driven solutions for the entertainment industry and its efforts to address evolving intellectual property requirements.
Archana Kavil, Vertical Head, IP Climb, led an awareness session titled “Writer’s Legal Protection Toolkit”, focusing on some of the key legal and intellectual property concerns faced by writers. The session covered copyright protection, safeguards that writers should consider while entering into agreements, and the importance of establishing sustainable, long-term royalty structures.
The interaction also provided an opportunity for members of SWAN to discuss the challenges and concerns faced by the writers’ community. IP Climb and SWAN explored potential joint solutions aimed at safeguarding writers’ creative works and strengthening mechanisms that can help creators protect and manage their rights over the long term.
A key area of discussion was the digitisation of SWAN, including the development of a member-facing website and a structured agreement infrastructure. The proposed digital initiatives are aimed at making it easier for members to manage their documentation and agreements while creating systems that can support the secure recording, tracking and management of their creative works over an extended period.
The collaboration between IP Climb and SWAN is intended to create greater awareness among writers about intellectual property rights and provide practical mechanisms to help them protect, document and track their creations throughout their careers.
