Chennai, August 1: Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), a national organisation working with the Muslim community since 2002, organised its Jan Sabha and South India Meet in Chennai on Saturday. The event brought together national office-bearers, distinguished guests, community representatives and members from across South India to discuss the organisation’s activities, future roadmap and initiatives aimed at expanding its presence in the region.
The gathering also marked the installation of Mr. Ahmed Malik Wadayar as the Chief Convener and In-Charge of Tamil Nadu, signifying a new phase in the organisation’s efforts to strengthen its outreach across the state.
The programme was attended by Dr. Indresh Kumar Ji, Margadarshak of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour included Prof. Dr. Shahid Akhter, Officiating Chairman, NCMEI, Government of India; Shri Vijay Shankar Mishra, National Vice President, Himalaya Pariwar; Shri Mithilesh Kumar Katheriya, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha); Dr. Majid Talikoti, renowned oncology surgeon; Mr. Ilyas Ahmed, National Convener and South India In-Charge of Muslim Rashtriya Manch; and Mr. Ahmed Malik Wadayar, Programme Convener.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers highlighted that Muslim Rashtriya Manch has been functioning for over 24 years and has established its presence across several parts of North India. They said the organisation is now focused on strengthening its activities across Tamil Nadu and South India, with the objective of increasing awareness about its initiatives and encouraging wider community participation.
The speakers explained that the organisation’s activities are guided by three fundamental principles—Ta’leem (Education), Taraqqi (Progress and Upliftment), and Tahzeeb (Good Conduct, Values and Civility). They emphasised that education forms the foundation for responsible behaviour, while progress and strong moral values contribute towards building an empowered and harmonious society.
The gathering also focused on creating awareness about various welfare initiatives available through the Minority Welfare Department and other government programmes. The speakers encouraged greater awareness of such schemes so that members of the community can benefit from the opportunities available to them.
During the discussions, the speakers stated that the organisation has consistently engaged with issues concerning the Muslim community through dialogue and public outreach. They reiterated their commitment to promoting social harmony, national integration and constructive engagement while encouraging citizens to strengthen their shared national identity.
Accepting his new responsibility, Ahmed Malik Wadayar expressed his gratitude to the national leadership for entrusting him with the role of Tamil Nadu Chief Convener. He said the organisation would work towards expanding its activities across the state by strengthening its grassroots network and promoting its initiatives among the Muslim community.
The speakers further noted that the organisation functions through a structured leadership framework comprising conveners and co-conveners at different levels to coordinate its activities across various regions.
The Jan Sabha concluded with a renewed commitment to expanding the organisation’s presence across Tamil Nadu and South India while continuing its focus on education, community welfare, constructive dialogue and national unity.
