Producers Sudhan Sundaram and G Jayaram of Passion Studios have nurtured crafted and materialized several content-driven movies. The latest one to join the league is Pothanur Thabal Nilayam, which is scheduled for its OTT world premiere on AHA Tamil from May 27, 2022, onwards. Filmmaker Praveen, who has played the lead role in this movie as directed it as well.
While coming across the title ‘Pothanur Thabal Nilayam’, we are sure to assume it to be a soft melodramatic drama, but the first look and the visual promos completely prove our assumptions to be wrong. Yeah! The film is an intense edge Period-Suspense-Crime-Investigation Thriller and the recently unveiled trailer intensifies our curiosities as well. Furthermore, the theme of ‘Post Office Heist’ has created a tremendous sensation and inquisitiveness upon the movie.
Director-Actor Praveen says, “The idea behind Pothanur Thabal Nilayam originated while casually interacting with my father, who was a cashier at the post office. He would share his experience with some small real-life incidents that inspired me to come up with a fictional presentation. I thank my producers Sudhan Sundaram sir and Jayaram sir for encouraging my efforts and materializing this project. I thank Aha Tamil for showing interest in this project and premiering it worldwide on May 27, 2022. Pothanur Thabal Nilayam will be a fresh and unique experience for the audiences as we have tried making the screenplay gripping and engaging. I believe the audience will accept our content and appreciate it.” Director-actor Praveen continues to add that PTN is the first-ever movie in India to be made with a post office as the central backdrop. Since the movie is set against the backdrops of the 90s, lots of efforts from the art department were involved to offer a precise visual treat to the audience. Besides, he adds that the movie being a retro styled one, will be a nostalgic experience of revisiting the 90s.
Owing 13 years of experience in the world of VFX and Animation, director-actor Praveen was the technical director of India’s first-ever motion capture technology-based movie ‘Kochadaiiyaan’. Passion Studios has already produced critically acclaimed movies like Seethakadhi, Andhaghaaram, Ennanga Sir Unga Sattam, and many outstanding productions. While Praveen and Anjali Rao are playing the lead characters, Venkat Sundar, Jagan Krish (J.K), Seetharaman, Deena Angamuthu, and Sambath Kumar are appearing as important characters.
